Paper endures all and has for centuries. Now that we no longer need ink or dead trees, the written word carries even less weight in and of itself. And yet a person must write. Just as various tools help people transform the physical world around them, so paper helps a person clarify their thoughts. Paper can indeed endure everything, but an incomplete, unpolished thought becomes obvious to the reader — even if that reader is none other than the writer himself. We write, then, in order to think. Publishing what has been written demands refinement that personal notes do not require, while at the same time giving readers the chance either to become acquainted with what is written or, if they disagree, to train their capacity for criticism.

The purpose of this website is therefore to think, and through thinking to seek the truth. That truth will never truly be attained; some essays will draw closer to it, while others will, unfortunately, drift further afield. All we can promise is that we will seek it to the best of our abilities.
